Department of Mechanical Engineering
Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU), which was established on September 12, 2021. The academic activities of this department commenced in the 2023-24 academic year. Our department is committed not only to achieving excellence in teaching, learning, and research but also to fostering a supportive and nurturing community. The Mechanical Engineering department provides innovative academic programs featuring a modern and well-structured Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. This curriculum emphasizes core areas such as design, production, energy, and automotive technology, addressing both current and future societal needs while preparing for the challenges of Industry 4.0 to contribute to the development of a progressive Bangladesh.
Mechanical engineering stands as the most ancient and expansive branch of engineering, concentrating on the generation, transmission, and manipulation of energy and matter through innovative systems, machinery, and methodologies for the advancement of society. In contemporary practice, mechanical engineers exhibit remarkable versatility; they engage in diverse fields such as cell biology, missile design, radiation-resistant materials, quantum dots, hypersonic flight, shale gas exploration, nanostructured lithium-ion batteries for energy storage, eco-friendly engines, high-temperature superconductors, sensors, artificial muscles, ultra-strong materials, and smart manufacturing technologies. The mechanical engineering department is committed to fostering research across all these domains, welcoming contributions from both domestic and international scholars.
Our objective is to cultivate and promote Mechanical Engineering professionals who are highly valued by both industry and academic institutions. This is achieved by fostering a balanced atmosphere that emphasizes innovative education and training, cutting-edge scholarship and research, alongside a commitment to public service and professional leadership. We strive to empower our students with the knowledge and skills necessary for them to excel and take on leadership roles in their engineering careers, ultimately contributing to the improvement of the world.
